ROCKPORT — On Aug. 12, Rockport Police were called to Mt. Pleasant Road, where a bicyclist apparently went off the road, hit a tree, suffered head trauma, and lay in deep vegetation beside the road.

The deceased man, in his early 50s, had been “there for some time,” said Camden-Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne.

Police identified him on Wednesday, Aug. 16, as David Wayne Allen, 51, of Rockland.

Gagne said he apparently failed to negotiate the turn on the road, near the intersection of Mt. Pleasant Road and Scott’s Road, near Kathy’s Lane.

There were no missing person reports filed, nor reports of missing or overdue bicyclists, according to police.
