THORNDIKE — Ruby M. Tweedie, 86, passed away at her residence in Thorndike Dec. 15, 2013. She was born in Belfast Aug. 15, 1927, to Donald and Gladys (Elliott) McLellan.

Ruby retired from the Thorndike Post Office, where she worked for many years. She was a member of Harvest Moon Grange and Thorndike Ladies Auxillary. Ruby enjoyed shopping and loved family gatherings, wheb family and friends were treated to her wonderful cooking.

She was predeceased in March 2013 by the love of her life, Ernest Tweedie; and by her great-grandson, Austin J. Grant in 2012. Survivors include her children, Linda Tweedie Dixon of Thorndike, Donna Elaine Shute and her husband, Raymond, of Brooks, and Terrie Griffiths and her husband, Wayne, of Lamoine; a sister-in-law, Mary Kelley of Manchester, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers who made it possible for Ruby to remain at home until her death.

Mom, we love you and we will always carry the love in our hearts for the most wonderful mother three daughters could have.

Private burial will be held in the spring.
