Rockport Police charge three with drug use, possession following traffic stop
ROCKPORT – Rockport Police charged three men with drug use and possession after they found evidence of drugs in the vehicle following a traffic stop.
On June 15, at approximately 11 a.m., Rockport Officer Dana Smith observed a vehicle driving erratically at the intersection Commercial and Rockville streets. Smith said he had earlier received a report that a woman observed the same car driving erratically in Belfast, saw smoke coming from the vehicle and smelled marijuana. She alerted police and followed the car that was travelling south.
According to Rockport Police Officer Craig Cooley, after Smith stopped the vehicle, Bobby Harvey, 34, of Levant, the driver of the vehicle, was issued a summons for the sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Eric Smith, 33, of Hermon, was charged with possession of a schedule W drug, and Luke A. Ambrose, 34, of Hampden, was charged with possession of a schedule Z drug.
Smith said Harvey’s vehicle was towed because of no proof of insurance and an expired 14 day temporary license plate.
Police Chief Mark Kelley assisted while Smith searched the vehicle.
Ambrose and Smith were both taken to the Knox County Jail and were later released on bail.
