Rockport accident totals one Toyota, damages another

ROCKPORT — A mid-afternoon crash on Route 1 June 29 backed up traffic for 45 minutes as an ambulance crew carried one passenger to the hospital, Rockport firefighters and Camden Exxon cleared debris from the busy road, and police sorted out the details causing the accident.
The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. as Dana Colburn, 75, of Rockland, attempted to turn left from the Offshore Restaurant parking lot onto Route 1, and head south.
According to Rockport Police Sgt. Travis Ford, she pulled out into the path of Linda Mann, 68, of Rockport, who was traveling north on the highway.
A passenger in Colburn's car, Carol Hollworth, of Rockland, suffered seatbelt abrasions and was transported by Camden First Aid Association to Pen Bay Medical Center, police said.
Colburn's 2005 Toyota Rav 4 took the brunt of the crash, with extensive damage to the vehicle's front end. The car is considered totally demolished, Ford said.
Mann's Toyota Camry sustained $3,000 in damages, he said.
Ford attributed the crash to driver inattention. Both drivers were transported home.
