Rockland teen crashes pickup into Puddleducks Boutique building

ROCKLAND — An 18-year-old from Rockland inexplicably lost control of his pickup truck Monday morning in town and crashed into the Puddleducks Thrift Boutique at the corner of Union and Willow streets.
Christopher Prescott was driving a 1981 Chevrolet pickup truck south on Union Street when he came around the top of the circle and lost control, according to Rockland Police Sgt. Tony Camporiale. The officer said Prescott's vehicle hit the curb, then the grass, spun backwards and "somehow hit the building" with the rear-end of the truck.
Prescott was not injured in the 9:17 a.m accident, nor was anyone inside the building.
Damage to Prescott's truck was estimated at $2,000; damage to the building was estimated at $6,000.
The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, though Camporiale said there were thus far no charges.
Rockland Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
