Rockland to start search for new fire chief soon
ROCKLAND — City manager James Chaousis, with the approval of members of the Rockland City Council, is beginning the search for a new fire chief. Interim Fire Chief Adam Miceli has been filling the vacancy since May 1, 2014 following the retirement of Charles Jordan, Jr.
The job position will not be posted for several more weeks, according to Chaousis in an email.
"I want to update and review the job description while discussing the issues with the Assistant Fire Chief,” he said.
The goal of everyone involved in the job search is to find the best match, which for Chaousis includes a strong background in EMS.
Currently, the Rockland Fire Department has 16 career personnel, and 12 - 16 call division personnel, all of whom respond to fires, drills, EMS calls, and drive ambulances in the middle of the night, according to Miceli.
