ROCKLAND — The City of Rockland has begun installing two 950-foot-long horizontal gas collection lines in the continued attempt to minimize odors at the municipally-owned landfill that occupies old quarries.
The project is Phase II of the piping system construction. The project is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
“We are hoping that the excavation work will create minimal odors but want to let the public know,” said Acting City Manager Tom Lutrell. “Odor minimization is the ultimate project goal of the gas collection project.”
