Power out in parts of Camden after tree topples
CAMDEN — This morning shortly before 2 a.m. a large tree adjacent to Mt. Battie Street toppled over, reported Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley. When it fell it caused two utlility poles to break, taking down the electric, phone and cable service in the area. Central Maine Power and phone company crews are working to restore service.
By 9 a.m., the poles had been replaced and CMP was nearly finished replacing lines and transformers. TimeWarner and Fairpoint had crews there restoring their delivery lines. The current estimate is for the work to be finished in approximately two hours. Road closures and detours remain in place until the work is completed.
To make the area safe for crews working Gould Street is closed between Washington and Branch streets and Mt. Battie Street is closed between Gould and Blake Streets. Barricades and detour signs are in place to redirect traffic.
