Peaceful solidarity gathering in Camden this evening, 5 p.m.
Wed, 06/03/2020 - 2:30pm
There will be a peaceful solidarity gathering today at 5 p.m. at the Camden Village Green to express grief and anger over the killing of George Floyd, the racism in society, and the desire to move beyond our current situation and make change.
The gathering will be streamed on FaceBook Live to keep numbers at safe levels and for those not wishing to be in public groups at this time.
Several speakers are lined up, including Rev. Ute Molitor, State Rep. Vicki Doudera, Camden, Rev James Weathersby, and Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne, Samantha Appleton, and Sen. Dave Miramant.
Face coverings, social distancing and limited numbers required. The event will culminate in nine minutes of silence followed by a walk to the harbor.
