Owls Head crash attributed to medical issue, police say

At approximately 9 a.m., June 5, Knox County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on Ingraham's Hill (Route 73) in Owls Head. The vehicle, operated by Jon Thompson, 72, of Owls Head, was traveling north and by witness accounts slowly veered off the road.
Thompson struck a fire hydrant and telephone pole before flipping the car onto its side back into the road, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office. At this time, it is believed to have been a medical issue with Thompson, the sheriff’s office said. He was transported to Penobscot Bay Medical Center by Thomaston Ambulance.
Owls Head Fire, Rockland Fire and EMS, Thomaston Ambulance Service and Rockland Police assisted at the scene.
