Nicholas R. Day, obituary
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the public Celebration of Life at the Belfast Park Pavilion that was planned for Nicholas Day has been cancelled.
BELMONT — Nicholas R. Day, 34, of Belmont, passed away unexpectedly August 5, 2020. He will be remembered as a loving husband, loyal friend, and the funniest guy in every room.
Nick was born in Belfast September 24, 1985. He was a 2004 graduate of Belfast Area High School, where he was a skilled wrestler and friend to many. Following high school, he studied criminal justice at Beal College and later worked as a dental technician for many years.
He married wife and best friend Megan (Richardson) Day September 15, 2013. Nick and Megan shared a life filled with laughter, and he would do anything he could to make her happy, from tapping maple trees in the back yard to learning how to foxtrot. They lived together in Belmont with their beloved Pomeranian, Tony, to whom Nick was the world’s best “dog dad.”
Nick loved animals and was loved by them; they flocked to him wherever he went and he was known for stopping to help turtles cross the road or assist in reuniting a lost dog with its owner. He had an adventurous spirit, and enjoyed thrill rides, traveling, and frequent trips to his family camp with his dad.
Nick loved Superman since his first pair of jammies, and he emulated him with his strength, courage, and desire to seek justice and protect others. All who knew him loved him for his quick wit and kind heart.
Nick was predeceased by his mother Lynn (Vigue) Arsenault, brother Christopher Day, maternal grandparents Charles and Mary Vigue, paternal grandparents Harry and Joanne Day, aunt Cindy (Day) Hart, and cousin Travis Day.
He is survived by Megan and Tony, as well as his father, Robert Day of Swanville; brother, Mathew Day of Belfast; father-in-law, Michael Richardson and wife Joan of Lincolnville; mother-in-law, Gayle Cmar and husband Michael of Rockport; brother-in-law, Samuel Richardson and wife Casey of Northport; sister-in-law, Lindsey LeMay and husband Joshua of Belfast; niece, Natalie Day and nephew Jacob Day of Belfast; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 29, from 4 – 6 p.m., at the Belfast City Park Pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick’s name to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, P.O. Box 707, Rockport, ME 04856.
