Morrill man arrested for criminal threatening with knife, police say
SEARSMONT — Deputies Dan Thompson and Jonathan Shaw, from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a reported robbery in Searsmont Wednesday.
A 17 year-old victim stated a man he used to work with, Benjamin Young, 24, of Morrill, had just threatened him with a knife, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
Deputies conducted interviews with the victim, and several witnesses to the incident. The victim said he was fishing in Searsmont when he saw another car pull in behind his own before stopping, according to the release.
The victim reportedly recognized the car as belonging to a man he worked with one year prior.
After Young exited the vehicle, he allegedly demanded $5 he believed the victim owed to him, producing a knife while making his demand. The victim gave Young the $5 he wanted.
Young was interviewed after being located, and subsequently arrested for robbery, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violating conditions of release.
He was transported to Waldo County Correctional Center where his bail has been set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 surety.
