Maine Drug Enforcement agents seize crack cocaine, gun, cash from Waldoboro house








Following leads provided by Rockland Police and Knox County Sheriffs’ Office in early April, agents from the MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force started an investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine and heroin in Lincoln and Knox counties.
Agents identified Jeffrey Aviles, 26, as traveling from the Bronx, New York to Waldoboro with crack and heroin on a regular basis, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The drugs would then be repackaged and sold to local drug users.
Wednesday evening, June 3, police searched the home, occupied by Dean Feltis and Alphonso Belnavis, at 302 Flanders Corner Road in Waldoboro. Seized inside were 28 grams of crack cocaine, one gram of heroin, an AR15 rifle, 200 rounds of ammunition and $2,500 in cash. The street value of the seized drugs is $3,000.
As police entered the house Wednesday evening, the three men attempted to destroy the drugs and flee the residence out the back door, police said. Feltis was tackled by officers on the back deck and the other two men were taken into custody inside the home.
The trio was transported to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.
Aviles, of the Bronx, New York, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Bail was set at $50,000 cash.
Belnavis, 45, of Waldoboro, has been charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine. Bail has been set at $100,000 cash. Belnavis is formerly from New York.
Feltis, 48, of Waldoboro, has been charged with unlawful possession of heroin, Bail has been set at $5,000 cash.
Assisting drug agents with the search and arrests were Waldoboro and State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Warden Service.
