Lincolnville teen scooped up following robbery with knife
ROCKLAND — A Schooner Bay Taxi driver escaped harm after he was robbed of cash at knifepoint early Thursday morning.
The Nov. 1 armed robbery occurred on Jane Street, which was the destination allegedly requested by the three customers he picked up in Waldoboro.
Rockland Deputy Chief Wally Tower said the three passengers were juveniles, including two females and a male. The robbery was reported to police at 12:06 a.m.
"Upon arrival at Jane Street, the male pulled out a knife and threatened the driver, demanding all his money," said Tower.
The driver complied and the three taxi occupants fled.
"After Rockland officers investigated, it was determined the male was at a residence on Camden Street (Route 1)," said Tower. "At around 2 a.m., when the male exited the residence onto the street, he was arrested."
Tower said the male, a 17-year-old from Lincolnville, was charged with class A robbery and probation violation. The two juvenile females, who were determined to be not involved in the crime, were released without charges.
The male was transferred to a juvenile holding facility, according to Tower.
