Lincolnville police beat: Shoplifting, deer hits, burglaries
LINCOLNVILLE – Lincolnville police reported the following activity, Nov. 8 to 26. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Nov. 8
Chief Ron Young responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on True Road. The person who had been parked on private property was advised to leave.
Nov. 13
Chief Young responded to Atlantic Highway in regard to a wanted person complaint. No contact was made with the person.
Michael Soronen, 42,of Lincolnville, was summoned for shoplifting following investigation of an agency assist request by Officer Wendell Ward of Belfast Police Department involving merchandise valued at $6.99 reported stolen from the Belfast Co-Op.
Nov. 14
Chief Young responded to a reported personal injury accident on Belfast Road. Karen Ryder, 54, Swanville, who was operating a 2008 Volkswagen, traveling north on Route 52, when she rolled her vehicle over after swerving to avoid striking a deer. Ryder was transported to the hospital by Camden First Aid for evaluation and later released.
Clifford Mason, 27, transient was arrested on Class C felony charges of failure to comply with the Maine Sex Offender Registry, second offense; Mason is a 10-year registrant.
Chief Young conducted an agency assist for Belfast Police Department about a fuel drive-off with the vehicle heading towards Lincolnville. The person later returned to the store and paid for the gas.
Chief Young responded to a reported property damage accident on Atlantic Highway (Route 1). Susan Schwan, 60, Belfast was traveling south on Atlantic Highway when she struck a deer in the roadway causing minor damage to her vehicle. Young said Schwan reported no personal injuries.
Nov. 18
Chief Young received a reported burglary complaint from a residence on Slab City Road. Approximately $500 in currency and electronics were reportedly stolen and the incident remains under investigation.
Nov. 19
Chief Young responded to an agency assist request from Camden Police Department for a vehicle traveling toward Lincolnville, which had been involved in a reported accident and had left the scene. Young located the vehicle and operator, which was both detained under Camden Police Officer Allen Weaver arrived to conclude the investigation.
