Lincolnville police arrest woman for domestic violence assault
LINCOLNVILLE — A Lincolnville woman was arrested Wednesday night, Oct. 31, for allegedly punching a man in the eye.
Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young said he charged Brandi Briere, 25, of Lincolnville with domestic violence assault after he was called to Sutton Road. When he arrived, he found Briere outside, standing by a car. According to Young, Briere told him she had allegedly punched the man after a squabble and he had allegedly grabbed her.
Young said he arrested Briere for domestic assault, as the man's eye was swollen and red, and that she admitted to punching him.
Young transported her to Waldo County Jail, where she was released on bail the following morning.
Young advised the man of domestic violence resources, which are provided by New Hope for Women. New Hope for Women offers support to in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties to those affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, and provides educational resources to assist communities.
October 31 marked the end of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Maine.
