Lincolnville honors Memorial Day with parade, ceremony
LINCOLNVILLE — Local residents gathered in driveways, on roadside rocks and in vehicles in the town center to watch the annual Memorial Day parade that culminated in a ceremony at Lincolnville Central School May 27. The parade — which began at the former Dean and Eugley/School House Museum — included vintage vehicles, athletic groups, bands and emergency first responder vehicles from several different mutual aid municipalities.
Lincolnville Town Administrator David Kinney spoke during the ceremony about the meaning of Memorial Day as a means of providing context to some who had never lived during wartime, among others, and encouraged citizens to participate in community-building and volunteer endeavors.
Musical selections played by the Camden Hills Regional High School band included Eternal Father, Strong to Save and taps.
