Knox County Sheriff's beat
ROCKLAND — The Knox County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity, Dec. 30-Jan. 5, during which the agency received 323 calls for service. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Dec. 30
Deputy Sgt. James Moore responded to assist Rockport Police Officer Robbie Shaw at the scene of an arrest for operating under the influence.
Deputy Paul Spear began an investigation of theft in Washington. This is still an active investigation with probable charges pending.
Deputy Spear arrested Tony Bartlett, 21, of Washington, on a charge of violating conditions of release.
Deputy Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator lost control due to snow drifts in the roadway, causing him to strike a utility pole. There was reportable damage.
Deputy Paul Pinkham arrested Ben Pollis, 19, of Warren, on an outstanding warrant.
Dec. 31
Deputy John Palmer began an investigation of theft in Friendship. This is still an active investigation with one suspect identified.
Deputy Palmer began an investigation of harassment in Washington. The male suspect was located and issued a warning for same.
Deputies Palmer and Matt Elwell responded to a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in Warren. Nathan Brewer, 25, of Newcastle, was later located and issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident.
Deputy John Hansen responded to assist Rockport Police Officer Dana Smith with an unruly male. The male was later admitted to Pen Bay Medical Center for an evaluation.
Deputies Pinkham and Moore responded to a report of a domestic incident in Appleton, which was deemed a verbal argument only.
Deputy Spear conducted a countywide details focusing on operating under the influence enforcement. As a result, several summonses were issued for various violations.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in St. George, Deputy Hansen came upon a very large party that resulted in numerous summonses being issued for various alcohol and drug related offenses.
Jan. 1
Deputies Pinkham, Moore and Hansen responded to a report of a domestic incident in Warren. This was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties were separated for the night.
Deputy Palmer arrested Asa Knauff Thompson, 27, of Warren, on three outstanding warrants.
Deputy Palmer arrested Terri Ingraham, 34, of Union, on an outstanding warrant.
Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle, which slid from the roadway striking a ditch. The damage was non-reportable.
Deputy Nathaniel Jack arrested Randy Wall, 51, of South Thomaston, on three outstanding warrants.
Deputy Pinkham began an investigation of theft in Appleton. This is still an active investigation with one suspect identified.
Deputy Moore arrested Jane Tarbox, 22, of Cushing, on an outstanding warrant.
Deputy Jack arrested Tanya Morris, 31, of St. George, on an outstanding warrant.
Deputies Spear, Johnson and Sgt. Michael Sprague conducted a countywide detail for operating under the influence enforcement. No arrests were made.
Jan. 2
Deputy Palmer arrested John Achorn, 30, of Friendship, on an outstanding warrant.
Deputy Elwell began an investigation of theft in Owls Head. This is still an active investigation with one suspect identified.
Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving two vehicles. There was reportable damage.
Lt. Detective Reginald Walker began an investigation of harassment in Owls Head. The suspect in this case was issued a written warning for same.
Deputy Jack responded to a request for a well-being check in South Thomaston on a male who made comments of harming himself. The male was later located by Rockland police and found to be OK.
Jan. 3
Deputies Palmer and Spear responded to a report of a domestic incident in Appleton. Subsequent to this response, Jessica Sukeforth, 32, of Union, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault.
Deputies Palmer, Spear and Johnson responded to a report of a domestic incident in Appleton. Subsequent to this response, Carol Hooper, 70, was arrested on charges of assault and aggravated criminal mischief.
While on routine patrol, Deputy Jack came upon a suspicious vehicle in Owls Head. After making contact with the subjects in the vehicle, it was found that a warrant was pending for one of them. Jonathon Ashley, 22, of Rockland, was subsequently arrested.
Jan. 4
Deputy Lance Mitchell responded to Pen Bay Medical Center to assist medical staff with an unruly patient.
Deputy Spear began an investigation into a burglary in St. George. This is still an active investigation with evidence obtained from the scene.
Deputy Hansen began an investigation into theft in St. George. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Larry Hesseltine responded to a report of a domestic on Vinalhaven. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only.
Deputies Jack and Mitchell responded to a report of a domestic incident in Cushing. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties were separated.
Jan. 5
Deputies Jack and Mitchell responded to a report of a disorderly male in St. George. Subsequent to this response, Jacob Ortiz, 18, of Rockland, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Thomaston, Deputy Spear arrested Taylor Olsen, 20, of Friendship, on charges of operating after suspension and violating conditions of release.
Deputy Pinkham began an investigation of harassment in Cushing. Rockport police requested the Sheriff's Office contact the suspect and issue a warning for same.
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving two vehicles, one of which lost control on a slippery corner, causing him to slide into the path of the other vehicle. There was reportable damage to the vehicles and two subjects were transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Deputy Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle striking a deer. There was non-reportable damage.
