Knox County Sheriff’s beat: Domestic violence assaults, burglary
The Knox County Sheriff's Office received 190 calls for service from Dec. 21-27. Those calls that are not listed below include issues with all terrain vehicles, alarms, 911 hang-ups, nuisance, erratic vehicles and suspicious complaints. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
Dec. 21
Deputy Paul Spear began an investigation of theft in Friendship. Following this investigation, Philip Cunningham, 46, of Friendship, was arrested on charges of theft and violating conditions of release. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained. Operator was issued a summons for failing to report accident by quickest means.
Sgt. Lance Mitchell began an investigation of harassment in Cushing. Both subjects involved were issued warnings for same.
Deputy Arthur Smith responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Cushing involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.
Dec. 22
mith responded to a report of a domestic in arren. After speaking with the subjects involved, it was determined that they would separate for the evening.
Det. Don Murray arrested Mark Fowler, 20, of Waldoboro, on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.
Deputy Paul Pinkham began an investigation of trespassing in Hope. The suspect in was located and issued a warning for same.
Smith arrested Nathan Spearin, 30, of Warren, on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Dec. 23
Smith and Mitchell responded to a report of a domestic in Appleton. Following that response, James Cressotti, 57, of Appleton, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle. Non-reportable damage sustained.
Hansen and Elwell responded to a report of a domestic inOwls Head. Following that response, Lorraine Fowles, 52, of Owls Head, was arrested on a charge of violating conditions of release, and Robert Fowles, 51, of Owls Head, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. Both were transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Following a traffic stop on Vinalhaven, Deputy Robert Potter issued a summons for attaching false plates.
Following a traffic stop in Rockland, Deputy Nathaniel Jack issued summonses for operating unregistered motor vehicle and failure to produce insurance.
Following a traffic stop in Rockland, Smith issued a summons for carrying passengers beyond intermediate license.
Dec. 24
Hansen began an investigation of burglary in Warren. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Hansen began an investigation of harassment in Friendship. The suspect in this case was located and issued a warning for same, along with a warning for trespass, as well.
Following a traffic stop in Warren, Spear arrested William Doniel, 36, of Warren, on charges of operating after suspension and violating conditions of release. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Dec. 25
Following a traffic stop in the town of Owls Head, Palmer arrested Daniel Pease, 31, of Union, on a charge of operating under the influence. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Dec. 26
Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained. The operator was summonsed for operating after suspension and flown to the mainland for complaints of back pain.
Pinkham began an investigation of theft in St. George. There are no suspects or leads at this time.
Dec. 27
Pinkham began an investigation of theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with two suspects named.
Smith responded to a report of a loud party in Cushing. The female homeowner was issued a warning for disorderly conduct.
