Knox County Criminal Docket closed cases
ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from Aug. 21-25.
Randy L. Astbury, 61, of Blue Hill, operating under the influence (drugs or combo), one prior, dismissed, failing to make oral or written accident report, fine $200; failing to notify of motor vehicle accident, $200 fine; driving to endanger, $575 fine, license suspended 30 days.
Georgina Butler, 26, of Rockland, operating under the influence (alcohol), $500 fine, license suspended 150 days.
Rebecca Dyer, 36, of Phippsburg, trafficking in prison contraband, 364 days in jail with all but 30 days suspended, probation one year; unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine, 30 days in jail.
Shayne Elwell, 30, of Rockland, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, $750 fine.
Daniel L. Fortune, 29, of Warren, assault, dismissed.
Frank H. Gallagher, 48, of Union, operating after habitual offender revocation, prior, $2,500 fine, five years in prison with all but nine months, one day suspended, probation two years.
Jason A. Grigor, 34, of Rockland, domestic violence assault, three years in prison, all suspended, probation two years; refusing to submit to arrest or detention, physical force, seven days in jail.
Justin K. Haver, 28, of Morrill, fishing without valid license, $100 fine.
Brian Hendrickson, 32, of Waldoboro, unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine; operating under the influence (drugs or combo), one prior, dismissed; operating vehicle without license-conditions/restrictions, $500 fine.
Mark B. Leclair, 36, of Rockland, domestic violence assault, 90 days all suspended, probation one year.
Nathan W. Lemay, 28, of Rockland, criminal mischief, $250 fine.
Joseph M. Lewis, 35, of Waldoboro, operating under the influence, $500 fine, license suspended 150 days; violating condition of release, 48 hours in jail.
Daniel Macissac, 28, of Sebago, aggravated assault, two years in prison; trafficking in prison contraband, dismissed.
Journey A. Maggaini, 22, of Eastport, possession of marijuana, up to 1¼ ounce, dismissed; use of drug paraphernalia, $300 fine.
Daniel R. Malburg Jr, 53, of Warren, operating vehicle without license, 24 hours in jail.
Cassandra E. Mansfield, 35, of Hope, disorderly conduct, loud noise, private place, $250 fine; refusing to submit to arrest or detention, physical force, dismissed.
Christine M. Merrifield, 33, of Waldoboro, endangering the welfare of a child, 364 days in prison all suspended, probation one year.
Joshua William Peaslee, 31, of Cushing, fishing without license, $100 fine.
Tyler J. Philbrook, 29, of St. George, burglary of a motor vehicle, 30 days in jail, restitution $93.89; criminal trespass, dismissed; criminal mischief, dismissed; driving to endanger, $575 fine, 30 days in jail, license suspended 30 days.
Daniel Ruffin, 57, of Rockland, violating condition of release, five years in jail with all but 39 months suspended, probation two years. The incident involved occurred on Nov. 18, 2016 when Rockland Police were dispatched to a domestic violence call around noon on Park Street. Rockland Deputy Police Chief, Chris Young, was the first officer to arrive on the scene and was flagged down by the victim in a parking lot near the apartment building where the alleged assault took place. The victim told Young that she had been assaulted by Ruffin and he had threatened her with a machete.
While the victim was safely inside her parked vehicle, three Rockland Police officers approached the apartment and took Ruffin into custody. Inside the apartment, police located a machete that was on top of a radiator heater, according to the court document.
The victim told police that during the alleged attack, she was able to get to her cell phone and call 911, but when Ruffin realized that she was calling for help, he grabbed the phone, while she continued to scream hoping that dispatch would hear her. She was able to break free from Ruffin and escape from the apartment before police arrived.
She showed police several bruises on her arms and chest area and said that Ruffin has been allegedly abusing her constantly the past few weeks, trying to strangle her and telling her he would kill her, according to the affidavit.
Kara A. Salo, 31, of Waldoboro, assault on an emergency care provider, four years in prison with all one but year suspended, two years of probation; criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, dismissed; violating conditions of release, three counts, concurrent lesser sentences.
Salo was convicted of assaulting a nurse at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. The charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon was dismissed. That incident involved Salo threatening to kill a man him while she chased him in the house while holding a kitchen knife.
Jessica Sinclair, 31, of Rockland, theft of lost, mislaid or misdelivered property, four months in jail; unlawful possession of scheduled drug, dismissed; violating condition of release, dismissed; violating condition of release, three counts, unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine, 364 days in jail all suspended, probation one year; operating while license suspended or revoked, $500 fine, 30 days in jail; failure to appear after bailed, two counts, 30 days in jail; trafficking in prison contraband, dismissed; unlawful possession of scheduled drug $400 fine, four months in jail.
Zachary W. Titus, 33, of Thomaston, violating condition of release, 30 days in jail; theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, priors, two years in jail with all but five months suspended, probation two years; criminal trespass, 30 days in jail; violating condition of release, 30 days in jail.
James Tynan, 23, of Waldoboro, operating under the influence (alcohol), $500 fine, four days in jail, license suspended 150 days; violating condition of release, four days in jail.
Eric Waite, 48, of St. George, violation protection from abuse order, 75 days in jail; violating condition of release, two counts, 75 days in jail.
William C. Ward, 46, of Warren, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, 364 days in prison all suspended, probation six months, restitution $4749.89; theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, 30 days all suspended; forgery, 30 days all suspended.
Ryan A. White, 28, of Indian Island, elver fishing by resident one device without license, $2000 fine.
John Williams, 49, of Rockland, operating vehicle without license, $250 fine.
Richard P. Winsor, 32, of Spruce Head, operating under the influence (alcohol), $1000 fine, license suspended 150 days.
David K. Woodward, 34, of South Thomaston, operating after registration suspended, $250 fine.
