On Oct. 12, Del Vecchio responded to a call at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport about a reported domestic incident that involved a knife. Police arrested Berry and he was initially charged with aggravated assault and later a second charge of domestic violence threatening with a dangerous weapon was added, according to the court document.
In the affidavit filed by Del Vecchio in Knox County Unified Court, the victim stated that she had planned to sleep in her car because she did not feel safe. She said Berry found her in Warren and drew a knife when a male friend intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
The woman told police that Berry had punched her in the mouth and grabbed her by the throat.
Berry had allegedly called the victim more than 50 times during a four-hour period, police said.
After Berry was arrested on Oct. 12, Del Vecchio transported him to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. Berry’s initial court appearance was Oct. 15 where Judge Susan Sparaco set his bail at $2,500 cash bail.
He later posted bail and was released from jail.
Berry’s bail conditions stipulate that he will be on supervised release. The conditions include that he cannot have any contact with the victim or her friend, must take his medications as prescribed and cannot use alcohol, illegal drugs, and weapons. He will be subject to random searches by police, according to the court document.
