Juvenile charged with two counts of Class C Terrorizing at Thorndike school
A 16-year-old juvenile student was arrested by the School Resource Officer and charged with two counts of Class C Terrorizing in relation to April 1, 2025 and March 13, 2024 threats of violence at at Mount View school complex in Thorndike.
A news release was issued April 2 by the Waldo County Sheriff's Office in Belfast.
The juvenile will be released with conditions to the custody of their parent by the Maine Department of Corrections.
The release follows:
"On April 1, 2025, at approximately p.m., a threat of violence was discovered at the Mount View High School in Thorndike and reported to school officials and authorities. This caused the evacuation of the complete complex and search thereof.
"School Administration and School Resource Officer Jordan Tozier worked throughout the evening of April 1 and on April 2, 2025, had identified a suspect, who is a student at Mount View High School.
"While conducting interviews on April 2, 2025, a second threat of violence was discovered and reported to school officials. This second threat was quickly able to be linked to the one from April 1, not requiring an evacuation or second search of the complex.
"Further investigation led to a link regarding a threat of violence against the school that was reported on March 13, 2024. That incident did require an evacuation and sweep of the complex.
"A 16-year-old juvenile student has been arrested by the School Resource Officer and charged with 2 counts of Class C Terrorizing in relation to the April 1, 2025, threat and the March 13, 2024, threat. The juvenile will be released with conditions to the custody of their parent by the Maine Department of Corrections."
