Islesboro police beat
ISLESBORO — The Islesboro Department of Public Safety reported the following activity on the island June 10-15. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt.
June 10
• Senior Officer Fred Porter responded to a residential burglar alarm on Ship Yard Point Road. The premises was checked and no sign of entry was found; the alarm had reset itself and the officer cleared.
• Porter responded to a 911 disconnect on 700 Acre Island; it was determined that no one was staying at the residence and most likely it was a phone line issue.
• Porter responded to Grindle Point to assist with a report that a boat was on its side off Warren Island State Park. When the officer arrived no one was in the water, private boats were assisting the captain to right the vessel and Harbormaster David Sleeper was on scene to assist.
• Porter was clearing the boat complaint and a passerby reported a parked pickup truck leaking gasoline in the parking lot; Porter had Islesboro Fire Department paged and they responded to handle the incident.
June 12
• Porter responded to a request of a welfare check on Pendleton Point Road. When Porter arrived he made contact with the gentleman in the house and determined everything was okay.
• Porter responded to a criminal mischief complaint on Main Road, where a vehicle had done damage to the lawn and parking lot at the location. This case in under investigation.
• Porter received a motor vehicle complaint on Pendleton Point Road, where the caller stated they had been experiencing a lot of speeding in the area and requested radar details. Information was obtained and noted.
• Porter received a fraud complaint on West Bay Road, which remains under investigation
June 15
• Porter responded to a request for public assistance on Main Road. When the officer arrived it was determined the issue was civil and the caller was advised of the proper procedure to handle the problem.
• Porter addressed a parking problem on Ferry Road (a restricted area). While at the location the owners of the vehicle returned and a written warning was issued for the violation.
• Porter responded to a residential burglar alarm on Jetty Road and determined in was a false alarm.
The Islesboro Police Department would like to remind drivers on the island that kids are now out of school for the summer and to use caution when approaching them when they are on bicycles or walking.
