Some roads impassable this morning, many lose electricity

Firefighters have been on multiple calls the morning of Oct. 17 as a storm intensifies across the coast of Maine. Downed trees and wires are making some roads impassable, while Lincolnville, Camden, Hope and Northport firefighters are fighting a structure fire near the Camden-Lincolnville town line.

Power outages are widespread (see below)

High winds are expected to persist through 11 a.m., with an east wind of 30 mph and gusts reaching 50 mph.

Rain is to be heavy, as well.

From the National Weather Service, 4 a.m.: “Powerful coastal storm is lashing the region this morning with strong winds and heavy rain. The storm will peak in intensity this morning and then gradually weaken and drift east. Lingering showers are most likely in the mountains, with gusty westerly winds developing across southern New Hampshire during the afternoon. As the storm slowly moves away Friday high pressure will move in to replace it and bring fair weather through the weekend.”
