On the evening before the U.S. House of Representatives votes on articles of impeachment (not yet scheduled) there will be events held all over the country in local communities and at the offices of federal legislators, according to a news release from the group Engage Waldo.

 

“In Belfast we will be meeting at 5:30 pm in Post Office Square for a candlelight rally,” said Engage Waldo member Trudy Miller.

 

“Our purpose is to strongly encourage our Congressman Jared Golden to vote in favor articles of impeachment and to strongly encourage our Senators, Susan Collins and Angus King, to vote to remove President Trump from office. We believe that there has been ample evidence presented that President Trump has violated his oath of office both in his original attempt to extort the Ukranian government for personal political purposes and in his ongoing obstruction of the constitutionally sanctioned impeachment process itself. The separation of powers as defined in the Constitution allow and require that the Congress must defend our democracy from being undermined by a lawless executive.
