Deputies investigate Friendship ATV crash
FRIENDSHIP — Knox County deputies are investigating the cause of an all-terrain vehicle crash over the weekend, in Friendship.
On Monday, Sept. 23, at 12:30 a.m, Knox Regional Communication Center received a report of an ATV crash on the Waldoboro Road. According to Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Friendship firefighters and Waldoboro EMS personnel arrived to find a Polaris Side by Side (SxS) rolled over with two injured people, one of whom was ejected.
Hanna Carter, 19, of Friendship, was operating the SxS off-road and lost control as the vehicle began to decline an embankment. A passenger, Olivia Sevon, 19, of Friendship, was ejected.
Using a stokes patient-carrying board, the volunteer fire crew and EMTs worked to carry the patients through the dark, rural area.
Both patients were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle sustained operable damage, according to the KCSO.
Operator inexperience and alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash, though the incident remains under investigation with Sergeant Palmer as the lead.
The incident was also reported to the Maine Warden Service.
More details will be added as they become available.
