Carolyn M. Stone, obituary
ROCKLAND – Carolyn M. Stone, 70, died peacefully Jan. 8, 2013, at Country Manor Nursing Home in Whitefield.
Born in Rockland May 18, 1942, she was the daughter of Forbes and Olive Elwell Taylor. Educated locally, Carolyn attended school in St. George and was a 1960 graduate of St. George High School.
Following high school Carolyn was employed with Crie Hardware for several years. She later moved on to the Maine District Court, where she worked as deputy clerk.
Later in life Carolyn opened the Pine Ledge General Store in St. George. She operated that business for more than 10 years. After the closing of her store, she went to work for Kalloch Fuel as a customer service representative, retiring in 2006.
A very creative woman, Carolyn enjoyed crocheting and counted cross-stitch. She was also an avid reader.
Predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Brian Taylor; Carolyn is survived by her sister, Sharon Earnest of Rockland; as well as several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
