Camden man arrested for OUI following overnight crash
CAMDEN — Camden police were on routine patrol shortly after midnight Wednesday when they came up a man who appeared to be injured walking toward town on Bay View Street.
They soon learned that 39-year-old Dennis Arey of Camden had walked away from a head-on crash down the road, in search of a residence to call for help, according to Police Chief Randy Gagne.
Arey was driving a 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when he crashed into a tree and his truck came to rest on its side in the middle of Bay View Street, near box number 270. The fire department was toned out at 12:30 a.m. Thursday and notified that fluids were leaking from the truck.
Gagne said Arey was charged with operating under the influence and taken to Pen Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The incident was handled by Camden officers Dan Brown and Ed Boylan, as well as Sgt. John Tooley.
