Belfast overdoses - one resulting in death - raise concerns over bad batch of drugs
BELFAST — Belfast Police Chief Mike McFaddden fears a bad batch of drugs might be circulating the area after police responded to two drug overdoses this past weekend, one of which resulted in death. McFadden said toxicology reports have yet to return for both incidents, but he believes the drugs in question may be bath salts or heroin.
While it is still unknown whether the individuals used the same type of drug, McFadden said alerting the public is important.
“I’m obviously not condoning drug use,” said McFadden. “But I have to keep one foot in reality, and I know it’s going to happen. We [Belfast police] need people to know that there may be a bad batch [of drugs] going around.”
The Belfast overdoses — one took place Friday evening, and the other Saturday — involved a teenager and a man in his mid-20s, who fatally overdosed.
