Belfast April 19 'Shot Heard Up the Coast' rally draws hundreds to Steamboat Landing

Harold McWilliams, of Rockport, attended the April 19 "The Shout Heard Up the Coast" rally and protest in Belfast, and chronicled it with his camera.
The protest was part of the nationwide surge in protests against actions of the Trump Administration in Washington, D.C.
Belfast's rally took place at Steamboat Landing and drew hundreds, "mostly older citizens, probably 50-85," said McWilliams. "Many carried signs, of course, which speak for themselves. At one point a pickup truck carrying a large Trump banner drove by, with a loudspeaker, it seemed, but there was no incident and people paid little attention."
He said the crowd was respectful of the speakers with no no incidence of heckling.
"Many people brought noisemakers, including drums, pots and pans, even a colander," he said. "There was a small group of musicians, which played the Star Spangled Banner at one point and people sang along. Several speakers pointed out how Trump’s policies were having a local impact."
The Belfast protest was among many held along the coast of Maine, from Wells to Lubec to Caribou. ActivateMaine.com lists the protest locations.
