Annette Overlock, obituary
WARREN — Annette Cogan Overlock passed away unexpectedly July 7, 2013, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born July 12, 1932, in Warren, the daughter of Allen and Ann Cogan. She attended Warren schools and graduated from Warren High School.
On Sept. 9, 1951, Annette married Theodore Richard Overlock, who passed away in 1986. Annette worked at the Warren Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and was instrumental in starting the Henderson School in Camden, continuing on with Coastal Workshop. She had a passion for the mentally challenged and worked with them for more than 30 years.
Annette enjoyed being a homemaker and sewing. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Camden Association and the St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Rockland. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Bernard's Soup kitchen, and also spent a year volunteering with the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky.
Annette is survived by her sons, Robin Overlock of Warren and his wife, Susan, and Fred Overlock of Westport, Ind., and his wife, Monica; her sisters, Jill Pottle and her husband, Lewville, of Warren, and Rae Fales of Warren. Annette's grandchildren include Sam Overlock and his wife, Jen, of Warren, Joe Overlock and his wife, Amanda, of Machias, Rebecca Overlock of Warren and her fiancée, Justin Wood of Ipswich, England, Mariah Overlock of Provo, Utah, and Derek, Collin and Brandon Overlock of Westport, Ind. Annette's great-grandchildren include Emma and Evelyn Overlock of Warren, and Bradley Overlock of Machias. Annette is also survived by her long-time special friend, Bentley Watts of Thomaston.
A graveside service will be held at the Leonard Cemetery on the Patterson Mill Road in Warren Sunday, July 14, at 2 p.m., followed by a gathering of friends at her home. At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Annette Overlock may be sent to Coastal Opportunities, P.O. Box 637, Camden, ME 04843.
