Accident in Belfast sends one to the hospital
BELFAST — An accident Saturday morning left two vehicles badly damaged and sent one man to the hospital with injuries to his neck, according to Belfast police.
Both vehicles were headed south on Route 1 in Belfast when Rein Green attempted to make a left turn in his 2002 Toyota. Green’s vehicle was hit from behind by an oncoming 2008 Audi sedan.
An unidentified minor driving the Audi said he was, "putting his visor down and looking for his sunglasses and he ran right into the back [of the Toyota]," according to Belfast Police Detective Bryan Cunningham.
The impact caused the Toyota so spin off the road, striking a Comfort Inn sign. The Audi also spun - 180 degrees - coming back to a stop in the southbound lane of the highway. Both vehicles were towed due to damage and Green was transported to Waldo County General Hospital.
