Car totalled after pulling in front of tractor trailer on Route 90 in Warren
WARREN — A New Harbor driver, and her passenger, escaped serious injury Friday night after she failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled onto Route 90 into the path of an oncoming Freighliner tractor-trailer.
Casey Hanna was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima sedan around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 on Western Road when she caused the accident with the 2005 Freightliner, being driven by Matthew Hatch of Bangor.
Knox County Deputy Sheriff Tim Carroll said Hatch was unable to stop his truck in time to avoid the car, and slammed into the front end of Hanna's Altima, which was totaled in the crash.
Route 90 was closed for a while after the accident, between Route 1 and Route 131. Hatch's truck also sustained front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Deputies summoned Hanna for failing to stop at a stop sign. Her passenger, Katie Eugley of South Bristol, was summoned for not wearing a seat belt.
Warren Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. There were no injuries in the crash, according to Carroll, and nobody was taken to the hospital.
