Tree catches fire after wind blows power line onto limb
Fri, 09/01/2017 - 7:00pm
Gusty winds in the Midcoast this afternoon resulted in trees down across roads and in backyards, and in Camden, one branch from a big old maple came down onto a car, and an electrical wire. That resulted in a limb catching fire, as the wire shorted out against the vegetation.
Camden firefighters closed off a portion of Chestnut Street as live wires fell onto the road and neighbors stood by as the limbs fell onto parked cars.
Central Maine Power crews arrived, cut the power, and the fire was extinguished.
The gusty winds were the result of a colder northwest wind swept through the region, sending unexpected blasts through the region.
