Spruce Head motorcyclist with serious injuries transported by helicopter to hospital
SOUTH THOMASTON — Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to a motorcycle crash on Rt. 73 near Alsak Farm Rd. in South Thomaston today, Thursday, August 31, at around 2:10 p.m.
Wayne Fowles, 59, of Spruce Head was traveling south on Rt. 73 when he traveled off the side of the road and lost control in the gravel shoulder along the ditch. Fowles' 1997 Harley Davidson hit a culvert and he was ejected off the bike across a driveway, according to a press release from Knox County Chief Deputy, Tim Carroll.
Fowles was transported by Lifeflight of Maine to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.
Deputy Arthur Smith is investigating to determine a cause.
South Thomaston Fire and Ambulance was assisted by Rockland Fire and Rescue at the scene.
