READFIELD — Maine State Police have charged a former student of Maranacook High School with impersonating a police officer after he showed a badge and a gun and talked his way into a post-game meeting of the school's boy's lacrosse team.  School officials later called Maine State Police about the incident and Troopers arrested 19-year-old Caleb Jackson of Wayne and charged him with impersonating a public servant, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a gun on school property.  He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail and is now free on bail.  

The incident took place late Tuesday afternoon on the campus of the Kents Hill School, which is where Maranacook plays their lacrosse games. Both schools are located in Readfield. The coach of the lacrosse team and Maranacook's athletic director had been approached by Jackson, who convinced them he was a state trooper, and wanted to talk to the team about sexting, according to a news release from Maine Office of Public Safety.  

Jackson was then allowed to talk to the team.  After, school officials called state police. Trooper Jed Malcore responded to Kents Hill and located Jackson who was still on the school grounds and took him into custody without incident. Trooper Jesse Duda also assisted in the investigation.

The gun Jackson had was in a holster on his belt, hidden under a coat, and was not removed from the holster at anytime, the release said. There is also no indication that he threatened anyone, police said.  Troopers said the gun was loaded when they recovered it from Jackson's car.
