Waldoboro Police beat: Criminal speeding, passing a stopped school bus, eluding a police officer
WALDOBORO - Waldoboro police responded to 278 calls for service from May 18-27. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
May 18
Cassandra Wyman, 33, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for negotiating a worthless instrument.
Hesseltine investigated a complaint from a resident of a burglary at his residence. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Hesseltine is investigating a report from a resident that someone broke into his father’s residence and stole approximately $300 in miscellaneous items.
Edward Kruper, 73, of Belgrade, was issued a summons by Officer Thomas Bartunek for passing a stopped school bus.
Officer John Lash is investigating a report from Mark Carlson of criminal mischief to a 2000 Subaru sedan. The value of damage is $1000.
May 19
Hesseltine investigated an accident at the Atlantic Highway, Kalers Corner, Winslows Mills Road intersection 10:35 a.m. Janet Zanichkowsky, 65, of Biddeford, was driving a 2009 Volvo sedan and Jeremy Sherbert, 37, of Spruce Head, was driving a 2004 Mercedes Benz sedan. Zanichkowsky’s vehicle was travelling eastbound and stopped for traffic. Sherbert’s vehicle was travelling eastbound, was slowing down in traffic, was following too closely, and struck Zanichkowsky’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Anatolij Duchanin, 68, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine for operating under the influence and operating after suspension.
Chief William Labombarde investigated an accident at the Atlantic Highway, Kalers Corner, Winslows Mills Road intersection at 1:40 p.m. Richard Glidden, 81, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck and Floyd Merrill, 63, of Cushing, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck. Glidden’s vehicle was travelling westbound and ran a red light. Merrill’s vehicle was travelling southbound. Merrill was cited for failure to produce evidence of insurance. No injuries were reported.
May 20
Hesseltine investigated a report from a resident of harassment by text messages. The subject was found and warned on harassment.
May 21
John Dow, 29, of Nobleboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for uninspected motor vehicle.
Hesseltine is investigating a second report from the same resident of harassment.
May 23
Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a resident of criminal mischief to his vehicle.
Fuller is investigating a report from a resident of the theft of money.
Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a complaint from a resident of a possible threatening complaint.
May 24
Travis Luce, 27, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Lash for criminal mischief.
May 25
Brandon Achorn, 29, of Friendship, was arrested by Officer Thomas Bartunek for operating under the influence.
May 26
Bartunek is investigating a complaint from a resident of harassment.
Kourtney Sherwood, 30, of Brunswick, was arrested by Bartunek and Lash for eluding an officer, operating after suspension, operating under the influence, violation of conditional release, assault, and criminal speed in excess of 30 m.p.h. above the speed limit.
