State Police charge 16-year-old boy with murder of Troy man
TROY — Maine State Police detectives investigating the death of 49-year-old Steven Hodgdon of Troy, who died March 8, have arrested a 16-year-old boy and charged him with murder.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steven McCausland late Wednesday, the teenager was taken into custody in Lewiston this afternoon and transported to Waldo County Jail in Belfast.
He is expected to make his first court appearance in Belfast before the end of the week, and because of his age, his name will not be released until he appears in court.
Waldo County Sheriff's deputies were called to Hodgdon's Rutland Road home in Troy around 2:30 a.m. on March 8. At the time of his death, police said Hodgdon had a teenage son, who lived with him at the residence.
The state Medical Examiners' Office said that Hodgdon died from a stab wound to the chest, and ruled his death a homicide, according to McCausland.
