Merryspring’s annual Spring Plant Sale will be held Friday, May 16, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

This year’s Plant Sale will feature an assortment of annual and perennial plants, as well as a variety of vegetable seedlings and herbs. In addition, there will be special shade garden plants from Fernwood Nursery in Montville, daylilies from the Maine Daylily Society, dahlias from Dooryard Farm, and plant divisions donated by Merryspring members and friends.  

Featured among this year’s 37 perennial cultivars for sale – all grown in the Merryspring greenhouse – are Geum ‘Totally Tangerine,’ Coreopsis ‘Crème Caramel,’ Sedum spurium ‘What A Doozie,’ Phloxsubulata ‘Scarlet Flame,’ Heuchera‘Hercules,’ Heucherella ‘Pumpkin Spice,’ Monarda didyma ‘Pocahontas Red Rose,’ and Veronica vernique ‘Rose Improved.’  

The selection of annuals includes Fuchsia ‘Gartenmeister,’ graceful Lobelia, Cerinthe, Verbena bonariensis, Cynaglossum, Cuphea, Browallia, Bidens 'Blazing Glory,' begonias and salvias, as well as petunias for gardens and flower pots. Vegetable seedlings for sale include several varieties of tomato plants, ­­­­­including Cherokee Purple, San Marzano, Beefy Purple, and Golden Jubilee. The selection of herbs includes all the favorites, including rosemary, sage, and tarragon.

Merryspring members receive a 10% discount on all plant purchases; non-members can take advantage of that same discount by becoming members during the event.  

Plant Sale purchases at Merryspring help to support the upkeep of Merryspring's public gardens and continuation of the extensive nature education programming for children and adults.
