35th annual Book and Bake Sale in Searsmont seeks donations
SEARSMONT — Searsmont Town Library's Board of Trustees, Library Director and dedicated volunteers are preparing for the 35th annual Book & Bake Sale to take place this year on Saturday, July 19.
People wishing to donate gently-used books should come to the library during open hours (Tuesday 9-5, Thursday 3-7, Friday 1-5, Saturday 9-1). Books should not be musty or smell of mildew – "a sad fate of many books housed in old Maine houses without humidity and temperature control," said the Board, in a news release. "Some topics are not accepted as they do not sell: self-help, psychology, diets, religion, spirituality, Bibles, textbooks, reference (dictionaries, etc.), magazines, out-of-date travel guides, politics, business, economics."
The sale also features community organizations, a Grandma's Attic run by Delta Kappa Gamma, live music, and a variety of baked goods.
Proceeds from the sale help fund library programs such as Gentle Yoga classes, music education outreach to Ames School, and the Perennial Reading Tournament.
