Lifeflight called after single-vehicle crash in Thomaston




THOMASTON — A Lifeflight medical helicopter landed on the lawn of Montpelier, on High Street, in Thomaston, Sunday evening, to pick up a patient involved in a motor vehicle accident.
At approximately 8 p.m., July 19, a single vehicle traveling westbound on High Street left the road and crashed into a small copse of trees near 89 High Street (Rte 131). The two occupants of the car were both conscious and alert by the time Thomaston Fire and Ambulance crews arrived on scene, according to Asst. Fire Chief Jamie Leo. Both were transported to hospitals due to injuries caused by the crash.
High Street was closed for about an hour while Thomaston and Rockland firefighters worked to extricate one occupant. South Thomaston’s ambulance transported the passenger to a local hospital while Thomaston’s ambulance transported the driver to the lawn above Montpelier to await the helicopter.
