Light smoke in Camden building calls firefighters to Central Street
Update: A Fire Marshal’s Office investigation into a workshop fire on Central Street, in Camden has determined the cause to be faulty electric wiring inside a table saw, according to Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley.
CAMDEN — During the morning of Friday, Aug. 23, a homeowner in Camden operated a table saw inside a workshop. Sometime after that owner ceased using that saw, light smoke would fill the structure, prompting a response from Camden Fire Department and its mutual aid.
Following an 11:10 a.m. summons by Knox County Communications Center, firefighters arrived at the two-story auxiliary building at 21 Central Street, which was being used as an upstairs office and downstairs workshop. Two responders entered the structure wearing breathing apparatus, while a couple others, also with air masks, waited at the door.
Those who entered the structure found wood remnants on fire under the table saw, according to Fire Chief Chris Farley. A drum filled with wood remnants was carried to the driveway and hosed off. A box of rags was also hosed off.
Rockport, Lincolnville, and Hope fire departments assisted, along with North East Mobile Health.
No injuries were reported.
