Hannaford donates to American Legion
CAMDEN — War Memorial Post 30 American Legion, a nonprofit organization committed to serving all Veterans and its community, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the month of November.
The Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program was launched in October 2015 and is designed to support local nonprofits through the sale of the reusable community bags.
For every reusable community bag purchased at the Camden-Rockport Hannaford during November, the War Memorial Post 30 will receive a $1 donation.
“We are extremely pleased and excited to be selected by our local Hannaford store as we are looking to replace our old furnace system which just this week has been condemned,” said Jeff Sukeforth, Legion Post Adjutant. “The Hannaford Reusable Bag Program will benefit us tremendously in our quest to replace our furnace.”
War Memorial Post 30 has a goal of raising $500 during November, which is equivalent to 500 bags purchased in support of the Legion.
Post 30 is a non-profit organization based in Camden. The American Legion was founded in 1919 and War Memorial Post was founded in 1931. Post 30 serves five local communities and the Veterans who reside in them. The post continues to support any Veteran who may need help on any level. They also work in the community supporting the local Pet Pantry, Cash for Clothes, Camden Garden Club, local Boy and Cub Scout units. On Halloween, the post will again provide free parking and hand out safety glow necklaces to any child who wants one, while supplies last.

Sukeforth said that interested people can view War Memorial Post 30’s Facebook page online. Veterans or the public can also stop by the post on the first and third Mondays at 9 a.m. to join in a coffee and chat session, or come to the monthly meetings on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.
