Deceased man found on Lincolnville Beach; death not suspicious, according to police
LINCOLNVILLE — A 63-year-old man found deceased on Lincolnville Beach Monday afternoon is not considered suspicious, according to Maine State Police Sergeant Patrick Hood.
The body of James Nields was found by a person walking near the Lobster Pound Restaurant around 3:30 p.m., Oct. 1.
A first responder arrived and determined that Nields was deceased.
Although Hood said the man had ties to both Phippsburg and Belmont, Massachusetts, he was thought to be transient. Nields arrived at Lincolnville Beach by bus the night before and possibly spent the night outside, police said.
“[It] sounds like he was mostly transient; he didn’t really have roots anywhere but was in between the two places,” Hood said.
The manner of Nields’ death is yet to be determined, with his body waiting for examination at the medical examiner's office.
Nields next of kin has been notified.
