Medomak Valley Land Trust, Midcoast Conservancy propose merger; Q & A sessions scheduled
WALDOBORO — Big changes are afoot at Medomak Valley Land Trust as MVLT pursues a proposed merger with neighboring Midcoast Conservancy.
MVLT will host two Q & A sessions at the MVLT office at 25 Friendship Street in Waldoboro on October 10, from 12 - 2 p.m., and on October 16 from 5 - 7 p.m.
Join MVLT for pizza and an opportunity to ask questions and share insights with staff and Board members from both MVLT and Midcoast Conservancy.
In its rich 27-year history, MVLT has permanently protected over 4,500 acres of land in the Medomak River watershed with 40 easements and 20 preserves. Midcoast Conservancy oversees 60 miles of trails and protects over 7,500 acres of land.
A merged organization would enhance the capacity to protect the natural integrity and scenic character of the watershed and provide increased recreational and educational opportunities.
MVLT and Midcoast Conservancy would continue the tradition of other recent mergers among land trusts in Maine which have created stronger organizations better-equipped to serve their communities.
The public is invited to stop by to discuss the proposed merger and the future of land conservation in the area.
