THOMASTON – (07/09/2018) A 2012 International truck owned by Stone Cold Storage of Brunswick, top heavy with frozen bait, landed on its side, Friday, July 6, in Thomaston.

The driver, 28-year-old Kelsey Fenwick of Topsham, was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for observation, according to Thomaston Police Chief Timothy Hoppe.

Though two witnesses reported seeing another car cut off Fenwick, as she attempted a right turn from Route 1 to Route 131, Fenwick told police she could not recall any incident involving a car.

In the process of turning, her load shifted, displacing the truck’s center of gravity.

The load of packaged bait was eventually transferred to a second transport truck.

All Directions Transport, Inc., of Hope, moved the truck.

All responding personnel cleared the scene around 6:30 p.m.

THOMASTON – At approximately 3:15 p.m., Friday, July 6, a large truck landed on its side just inside the entrance to High Street (Rte 131), slowing summer traffic along Route 1.

As emergency medical responders transported the driver by ambulance, non emergency, to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, the smell of frozen bait slowly began to mingle with the warm afternoon breeze.

Some drivers attempting to turn onto High Street toward St. George have been able to drive up the adjacent narrow road in front of the Knox Museum.

As of 3:45 p.m., Thomaston police officers were still gathering information as to the cause of the incident.
