SEARSPORT — In his regular Radio Searsport email dispatches, resident Dick Desmarais seeks to keep the community updated on pending municipal and school  board meetings, local fisheries hearings and other items of interest.

Following is the most recent Radio Searsport dispatch, dated Feb. 24.

• Monday, Feb. 25, starting at 6 p.m., there will be another evening of public hearings on the DCP application. The meeting will be held in the Searsport High School. Snow date will be Tuesday, Feb. 26.

• Wednesday, Feb. 27, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Shellfish Management Committee will meet in the Dan Rich Public Safety Building.

• Wednesday, Feb. 27, the annual Meet the Candidates Night (canceled because of weather Sunday) will take place in the Town Hall starting at 7 p.m. This event will be televised.

• Thursday, Feb. 28, starting at 7 p.m., the North Station Building Committee will hold an informational meeting in the Town Hall. This is a chance for the public to hear the proposal and to ask questions. You will be voting on this project at the town meeting March 9.

The Town Meeting actually starts Tuesday, March 5, with polls open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. for the election of selectmen, school board members and budget advisory committee members. The Town Meeting continues Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Searsport High School Gym starting at 9 a.m.

At the last Searsport Lions Club meeting, the club voted to help a young girl from Searsport with sight problems. This girl is in need of an iPad, which would be invaluable to her in her school studies. It was voted unanimously by the club to join in a fundraiser to help her family with the costs. This will be a zone project for the Lions of Waldo County. It was decided that a public breakfast at the Searsport clubhouse will take place Saturday, March 2, from 6 to 11 a.m. and the cost will be $4 for children, $6 for adults and $15 for families.
