Midcoast to get just 1-3 inches of snow
GRAY — Knox and Waldo counties have dodged this weekend's winter storm, which is now expected to only drop precipitation as far north as Lincoln County. In southern and western portions of the state, 4 to 7 inches of snow are now in the forecast, mostly during the day Sunday.
The National Weather Service overnight removed the winter storm watch for the Midcoast, and lowered the chance for snow to 20 percent today, 50 percent tonight and 80 percent Sunday and Sunday night.
Sunday's weather picture could include a mix of snow and rain along the coast, with all snow Sunday night, albeit it light. Total accumulation Sunday is forecast to be 1 to 3 inches, down from a possibility of 8 to 10 inches of heavy snow in Friday's forecast.
The seven-day forecast follows.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Southeast wind 7 to 9 mph.
Saturday night: A 50 percent chance of snow after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 30 F. East wind around 7 mph.
Sunday: Snow likely before 9 a.m., then rain and snow. High near 35 F. East wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Sunday night: Snow, mainly before 10 p.m. Low around 25 F. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 35 F. North wind 5 to 8 mph.
Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22 F.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40 F.
Tuesday night: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29 F.
Wednesday: Rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 38 F. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Wednesday night: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 29 F. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Thursday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39 F. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Thursday night: A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 26 F. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Friday: A chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 37 F. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
