LINCOLNVILLE — William Chalmers Jr., 75, of Lincolnville, died peacefully Feb. 11, 2013, at Waldo County General Hospital after a very brief stay. Born March 29, 1937, in Camden, he was the son of William and Evelyn May (Hardy) Chalmers. He was a 1955 graduate of Camden High School.

Bill was the first lake patrolman for the Megunticook Lake Association and faithfully patrolled the waters of Megunticook Lake and Norton's Pond, a position that he held for many years. Bill had worked as a self-employed caretaker on Megunticook Lake for multiple families. His caretaking included all aspects of property maintenance for lakefront homes and camps. He was also a veteran trustee and former chairman of the Youngtown Cemetery Association.

A true outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Knox County Fish and Game Association. He could always be found with a smile on his face and his dog, Tippy, by his side. He will be missed by many.

Surviving are his two brothers, Gerald Chalmers of Lincolnville and Jack Chalmers of Essex Junction, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Deborah Chalmers, who died in 1999.
