CAMDEN — Deborah Dodge spotted some folks working on the lamp posts and benches at the harbor on Saturday, June 2, and was curious about what they were doing. Fresh paint and stain work take effort and a good part of one's weekend.
Come to find it, they were volunteers with West Bay Rotary, out accomplishing community service work.
Leader Sandy Cox had contacted Camden Public Works Director Rick Siebel, asking, 'what do you need help with this year?'
"Rick suggested touching up and repainting the light posts downtown," said Dodge. "Who knew?"
The volunteers help every few years, working quietly behind the scenes for the town.
"It's terrific," said Dodge.
